About me

Hi! I’m Jonathan Adjemian. I’m a Registered Acupuncturist and qigong teacher in Toronto. I studied Acupuncture at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m also a musician, translator, partner, father, and Great Lakes enthusiast, with a PhD in Social and Political Thought from York University.

I love how acupuncture is rooted at once in two thousand years of theory and case studies, on contemporary medical understandings, and on the lived experience of being in a human body. I love, too, that it is based on activating your own body’s capacity to heal. In clinic, I love getting to know my patients and working together to find the treatments most suited to them.

Since finishing school, I’ve done additional training in Balance Systems Acupuncture, Korean Acupuncture, and Master Tung style acupuncture. I keep up regular study of classical medical texts and follow contemporary research. And I try to maintain the kind of careful observation of the environment and my own body that has always informed this medicine.

My first introduction to Chinese Medicine was through qigong, and I have been practicing for over 15 years now. Since 2020, I have been studying qigong, tai chi, and the I Ching with Master Zhongxian Wu. I’ve also had the pleasure of learning from Zac Lui, Claire Turner Reid, Dylan Kirk, LoAn Tran, Master Mingtong Gu, and Lindsey Wei. I teach regular group classes, and also offer individualized training.
